In Rafah, the southernmost part of the Gaza Strip, it is possible to be injured or even killed while going about your daily business.

At school, at home, at work, no place is completely safe from gunfire from the Israeli Armed Forces. A Japanese NGO worker living in Rafah writes about yet anotherdeath that went unreported by the western media. [The Nablus News, Japan]

"At first, none of us understood what happened to Rifaat. I was sitting with my friend in the salon, drinking something cold, when I suddenly heard something heavy fall to the ground with a loud thump. I looked outside and saw Rifaat
lying on the ground. I ran outside and rushed to his side. His face had gone white and there was blood dripping from his mouth. I kept calling to him, but he didn't respond. I was afraid he was shot and looked all over his body for any signs, but I couldn't find anything. I rushed him to the hospital, but he died soon after."
